In the early hours of Tuesday morning 13 October, CORTAC's dog unit V45 was proactively patrolling in Parkhurst when they heard gun shots coming from the direction of 11th Street.
CORTAC’s Tactical Officers immediately proceeded to the suspected location to investigate and saw a suspect fleeing the scene. The suspect was chased on foot and apprehended. The suspect admitted he had been trying to break into a house in Parkhurst and that the homeowner fired his weapon at him.
Parkview SAPS were dispatched. The suspect then took the Tactical Officers back to the house where he’d been trying to break in. The homeowner positively identified him as the suspect. CORTAC, in conjunction with the Parkview Police are profiling the suspect to see whether he could be linked to other house burglaries in the area. The investigation continues.
With the continued support from the community and our proactive patrolling units, CORTAC successfully removed yet another criminal from our streets.
